Sun sail - fifteen square meters in one piece, over the table and the loungers

A single 3 x 5 m panel that covers a dining setting and the chairs around it without overlapping patches. Metal rings sewn into each corner carry the tension, and the ropes to pull it tight come with it. The cloth is light enough that two people can hang it.

Why choose this rectangular sun sail?

Two small sails hung side by side leave a bright stripe down the middle, usually right where someone is sitting. One long rectangle removes the stripe and looks calmer overhead. Fifteen square meters clears a full table with room left over.

Hang the two long corners higher than the short end so rainwater has a direction to run. Walls, a pergola beam and a well-set post all work as anchors as long as each takes a firm pull. Slack is what tears a sail, so retension the ropes after the first few days.
