Shade cloth - cuts the glare over the beds and still lets the air through

An open-weave cloth for greenhouse roofs, pergolas, plant beds and carports. It intercepts midday light without turning the space underneath into a dark box, and air keeps moving through the mesh. There are sixteen sizes, the smallest 2 x 2 m and the largest 4 x 8 m.

Why choose this shade cloth?

A solid sheet traps warm air against whatever sits below it. An open weave does the opposite: the light is filtered and the heat rises straight through. Over seedlings or a glass roof, that difference is the entire point.

• Open mesh weave: light is filtered while air keeps circulating rather than stalling.
• Taped perimeter: the edge is folded and taped so it does not fray at the fixing points.
• Grommets along the edge: metal rings at the corners and down the sides spread the tension.

Run cable ties or hooks through every second grommet instead of only the corners and the cloth stays flat in a breeze. Over glass it works best held a few inches clear, so warm air can escape through the gap. When the season ends, shake the dust out and fold it away completely dry.
