A doormat with a soft pile surface over a rubber non-slip backing, made to go through a normal wash cycle. It holds damp and street grit at the door rather than passing it down the hall. Available in 40 × 60 cm and 50 × 80 cm.
Most doormats look the way they look after one wet winter, and shaking them out changes nothing. A mat that survives the machine comes out looking new each time. The rubber backing stays intact through it, so it still grips the floor afterward.

Wash at 30 °C without softener, which coats the fibres and cuts their absorption. Dry it flat, since a tumble dryer can damage the rubber. On a smooth floor the backing grips best when the floor itself is free of dust.
Lay it at the door and wash it when it is time.

If you use a washing machine, always select the "hand wash" program to avoid shrinkage or damage to delicate fabrics.
Air dry.
Avoid using the dryer to preserve the softness and shape of the garment.
