A kit for filling small damage in laminated auto glass yourself: resin, an injector with suction cups and the film it cures under. One repair takes twenty to thirty minutes, curing in daylight included. It is meant for chips and bullseyes, not for cracks that have already run.

A chip rarely stays a chip; temperature swings and speed bumps turn it into a crack sooner or later. Filling the void while it is small keeps the glass intact. That saves a trip to a glass shop over a few millimeters of damage.
Keeping a small thing small, on the driveway instead of in a workshop.

Work on clean, dry glass with the outside temperature above ten degrees Celsius. Seat the injector directly over the impact point and draw the air out before you let the resin flow in. The fill stops the damage from spreading, though a faint outline usually stays visible.
Keep it in the car and use it the day you spot the chip.
